Pic: Country Road |
I have been stuck inside for the whole of this drab day writing drab copy and it's put me into a very blah, very uninspired mood.
So what better way to cheer myself up than to look at some lovely winter fashion.
I've been trying to give some thought to updating my look this winter (who wants to look like a run-around Mommy in skinny jeans and flats all the time?). I even went so far as to buy the May fashion issue of Elle, but that just scared me and made me realise I'm no longer 17 and need style, not fashion.
I'm really loving the new Country Road collection and bought a charcoal wool skirt from the autumn collection last month. I'm hoping I'll be brave enough to wear it with tights and ankle boots when the opportunity presents itself. I'm also determined to get a jersey or some trousers in rusty red, like those in the pic above.
However, I'm not entirely convinced about skinnies in lots of different colours (I can remember the early 90s and the horrible bottle green jeans phase that and those pics are still cringe-worthy, I promise you!) even though I know this trend seems to be here to stay and is making an appearance in Europe for spring in pastels and brights. Is it just me, or is a lot of fashion just plain ugly at the moment?
Anyway, other items on my list for winter: Some knitted dresses (I'm determined I won't wear jeans, trousers and boots ever day this winter like I normally do), a tailored jacket (maybe from Zara), flat boots and a white silk blouse that I can wear tucked into my skinny jeans with a thin gold belt.
