Knitting needles and all

Baby sweater from Ravelry

I have no idea what it is about this wintery time of the year, but I always get an urgent need to break out my knitting needles and make something during the long dark nights.

Which is quite laughable, seeing as I'm only able to do garter stitch and have been knitting the same scarf for three years now. (In my defence, it is supposed to be very wide and I'm nearly, nearly done).
But it's just the idea of making something, and knitting in front of a fire with a glass of red wine at hand that does seem so appealing.

As motivation, I've been trawling Pinterest (what else) and found pictures for such sweet projects. How cute is this baby boy Library Sweater or this baby kimono (it's even in garter stitch!). But my favorite has to be this little Breton-stripe short sleeve jersey.

Maybe this is the year I'll actually get something made, or find a granny who I can commission....
